Hitting a baseball is an athletic movement. Too often we try and over analyze the art of hitting and by doing so we ask kids to do things that are unathletic. Your stance after striding should be similar to playing defense in football of basketball. This is an athletic stance and what you have achieved is "dynamic balance."
